Sports Injuries and Performance

Why See a Rehabilitative Chiropractor in Charlotte?

Sports Injury Care in Charlotte When an injury occurs from repetitive use in sports, like running, or acute trauma, such as a sprain/strain, swelling and inflammation will be produced from the damaged tissues. The injury creates compensatory mechanisms and tightening of muscles so the body can continue to move, albeit in pain and dysfunction. This can happen slowly over a long period or quickly during a workout.

Gallagher Chiropractic and Wellness Center has many therapies to correct these injuries by improving movement, creating stability to prevent future injury and most importantly, decrease pain.

Functional Rehabilitation and Performance

Our rehabilitation program can often improve functional capability, reduce symptoms, and improve long term stability for the patient. Rehab should be designed to meet the needs of each individual patient, depending on the specific problem and goal. At our office, the goals for each patient will be reviewed and a specific rehab protocol will be developed. Whether your goal is to be pain-free or to improve your body’s performance, we have a treatment option available.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM)

This therapy is performed with tools that treat myofascial adhesions and soft tissue scarring from trauma or surgery. Nerve entrapments in soft tissue can be treated effectively with this therapy as well.

Myofascial Release/Manual Therapy

Many problems requiring chiropractic care involve some restriction of movement or tightness. The basic premise of myofascial release and manual therapy is to create mobility in a joint or soft tissue that doesn’t move enough. Myofascial release is more often used to treat issues involving muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Several types of myofascial release exist and tend to be popular in the sports medicine world. Manual therapy is frequently used to treat joints that need to move better. This is a gentle way to correct ongoing movement dysfunction. Once the joint(s) gain mobility, pain will be reduced and focus can be put on making the area more stable.

Rehabilitative Treatments

The human body is a well-calibrated machine, but sometimes it can’t cope with the stress of acute trauma or chronic use. If you have recently suffered an injury or been dealing with a condition for some time, it’s time for rehabilitative treatment. We offer a range of services as well as counseling, which when combined, give you the best chance of healing fully and returning to life as you know it.

Rehabilitation Care at Gallagher Chiropractic

Our mission is always to educate and care for you and your family as if you were our own. We treat a wide range of conditions, from chronic lower back pain to neck trouble to acute trauma from an accident. We welcome difficult or chronic cases that have not been solved by other professionals.

Our chiropractor in Charlotte has been helping clients achieve wellness since 1997. In that time, we have seen every case of rehabilitation under the sun, and a huge wealth of experience about what works and what doesn’t. Our rehabilitative services seek not only to heal your pain and trauma but to educate you about the condition so it doesn’t happen again. Both the doctor and our staff here at Gallagher Chiropractic and Wellness Center are ready to help you find greater health today.

Passive and Active Forms of Rehabilitation

When you suffer an injury, there are two forms of rehabilitation: passive and active. Passive therapies include ice, rest, kinesiology taping and more. Active therapies include adjustments, decompression, and physical therapy. At our clinic, we combine both types of rehabilitation to give you the maximum chance of healing.

Many of our other therapies can also be applied to sports related injury and performance. The synergistic effect of adding Low Level Light and Cold Laser Therapy or Regenerative Stem Cell Therapy to your rehabilitation program, for example, may lessen the recovery time significantly and get you back in the game in less time than you expect.
